Cape Town Travel Guide

April 12, 2019 Veronica Joce
IMG_8666.jpg

Hello my beautiful friends! As you know Alex and I consider Cape Town one of the top places in the world. I wish Cape Town was closer - we would visit it even more. Every time we get back, we find ourselves falling in love with this city and its magical sunsets more and more. Here is a guide for your trip that consists of our absolutely favourite places we've discovered in Cape Town. It will help you make the most of your time in iconic and extremely breathtaking Cape Town.

Important Note: Whenever we recommend people going to Cape Town the first thing they ask is - “Is it safe?” This is one of the questions we also asked before our first trip here and our friends who are locals have assured us it is. Three years later and Cape Town has become our ultimate annual winter destination. With close to four months spent there already, I can confidently say from my own experience is that it’s really safe, but just like with any other large city in the world you have to be smart and not go out looking for trouble. In all main and touristy areas of Cape Town such as Camps Bay, Clifton, Seapoint, Kloof St, etc., I’ve never felt unsafe. But always remember to be street smart and not be flashy with jewelry, cash, etc.

Now let’s get to our guide to one of our favorite destinations in the world - Cape Town!

WHERE TO EAT

Important Foodie Note: For most restaurant recommendations including lunch and dinner, I highly advise you to call or reserve a table through an online booking as these are very popular restaurants. I even recommend to plan and book your restaurant week and sometimes months in advance, yes it can be that hard to get in to some places.

Coffee and Breakfast/Lunch

  • Loading Bay (30 Hudson St)

This space is really unique, light filled and multi dimensional. It is our go to place for coffee, breakfast or lunch. Especially, the Fika which is a scandanavian pastry with cardamom or cinnamon. Loading Bay is a place committed to facilitating an ethical, conscious movement of daily habitual activities – guests are welcomed to enjoy their selection of  seasonal meals whilst perusing through the curated offering of international men wears clothing, or indulge in good conversation of wellbeing and equilibrium with one of their skilled Aesop Consultants.

  • Origin (28 Hudson St)

Right beside Loading Bay is another great cafe. This is definitely the place for coffee lovers. If you are passionate about coffee, Origin is able to source the world’s finest coffee beans. We recommend visiting Origin Headquarters in De Waterkant (this is our favorite location) and get the full experience. You can meet the artisans, watch the roasting and get to taste the coffee while it’s still fresh and expressive. They also offer amazing healthy breakfast and brunch menus, so make sure to take time and stop at Origin.

  • The Lawns at the Roundhouse Restaurant (Round House Rd)

The Roundhouse probably has one of the best views in Cape Town. It overlooks the twelve apostles mountains. We were skeptical about this place of some mixed reviews, but we were delighted when we went for brunch on the weekend, as they had live music and great food options. Benedict was delicious.

  • Scheckters Raw (98 Regent Rd)

What can I say about Scheckter’s RAW Gourmet Health Food? This is a serene space serving uncompromisingly honest, beautiful and innovative healing food made with love. Awesome vegan spot, perfect for lunch or to order on Uber Eats. The chickpea curry wrap or the vegan falafel wrap will intensify your curiosity in a plant-based menu and the BVB (Best Vegan Burger) is the one that will convert you. The pumpkin pancakes are awesome too, who would have thought.

  • Jarryd’s in Seapoint (90 Regent Rd)

Jarryd’s Espresso Bar and Eatery is a great place for breakfast or lunch. Really cool hipster vibe here, but all are welcome. They are wholly committed to sourcing and supporting locally produced and seasonal food, and focuse on highlighting the beautiful nature of each and every single ingredient they serve.

  • Espresso Lab (375 Albert Rd)

And last, but definitely not least – Espresso Lab, a specialty coffee roastery based at The Old Biscuit Mill. If you traveled all the way to Africa, you should get a proper coffee there. The baristas are more than just friendly, they are happy to offer you coffee experience on a whole new level - they make it floral, complex and completely enjoyable. The Old Mill is a cool place to check out on the weekend when they have a food market.

Our Favorite Cape Town Restaurants

These are our absolute favourites, places where we go to more than once. Reminder, book a table ahead of time or call in to see if they have last minute availability. Some are walk-in only which is great if you didn’t book.

  • Chef’s Warehouse at Beau Constantia  (ERF1026 Constantia Main Rd)

This is probably Alex’s favorite restaurant in the world and it’s also the greatest deal in the world for a set menu for lunch or dinner. We recommend coming for lunch as you can enjoy the beautiful views and delicious gourmet food. This place is a must book weeks in advance or you can try your luck calling at 9-10 am the day of to see if they will open their terrace which can only booked the day of.

A little more about this place, Beau Constantia is a 22 hectare boutique wine farm at the top of Constantia Nek. At Chef’s Warehouse at Beau Constantia, they have seasonal and produce-driven menu that changes regularly, with their signature experience being tapas for 2. Situated at the top of the Constantia Valley, you will enjoy one of the best views in Cape Town. Once again, this restaurant is perfect for lunch (their lunch service is from 12.00 until 14.00), so make sure to book a table in advance. This is Alex’s highlight every time we come to Cape Town.

  • Babel at Babylonstoren Winery (Klapmuts Simondium Road, Simondium)

Another one of favorite places in the world and the reason why Cape Town is so magical. It’s about 50-60 minutes by car from Cape Town. Babylonstoren is one of the oldest Cape Dutch farms and it has a fruit and vegetable garden of beauty and diversity, unique accommodation, fine food and wine, and a sense of well-being. Make sure to plan a day trip to Babylonstoren Winery, spend half a day there first for lunch, and then enjoy walking around the breathtaking gardens and having a coffee or ice-cream at the cafe. Babel is a must book weeks or months in advance. Sometimes you can get lucky with last minute bookings but better not test your luck as this place is amazing.

  • The Foodbarn Restaurant (Village Ln)

We definitely recommend to stop by at The Foodbarn Restaurant in Nordhooek Farm Village after an epic drive on Chapmans Peak for sunset. They serve the food that their Chef Franck Dangereux is famous for – delicious and decadent ‘casual fine-dining’ in a very relaxed and picturesque old barn.

  • Hemelhuijs (71 Waterkant St)

This restaurant, with its ever changing interior space and whimsical displays of fresh flowers and object trofée, is a small oasis in the heart of Cape Town .Make sure to try their freshly made jewel coloured juices, paradisal cocktails or their custom blended coffee and order from their all day menu. At Hemelhuijs, you can remember  the flavours of childhood memories, mixed with the exotic touch. Very special place for breakfast and lunch.

DJI_0010.jpg

Other Good Restaurants

  • Chef’s Wharehouse & Canteen (92 Bree St)

Their Tapas for two set menu is extremely good. Dishes change every day, so be prepared to see different, delicious options every day. Due to the relaxed canteen style, they don’t take bookings. We recommend coming at 12-12:30 pm if you want to snag a spot on their high tables outside.

  • Green House in Constantia (93 Brommersvlei Rd)

This place offers thoughtful and delicious tasting menu showcasing the delights of South African ingredients and producers. Charming and wonderful flavour combinations. Fine dining.

  • El Burro Taqueria (1 New Church St & Kloof Nek Rd)

A casual place with best authentic taco experience and lots of vegan options, perfect for lunch or dinner.

  • Thali (3 Park Rd)

Whenever we need our Indian food fix, we come here. It’s from the same family of restaurants as Chef’s Warehouse and offers variations of spectacular and modern Indian cuisine.

  • Kloof Street House (30 Kloof St)

Our casual go to place for meals at all times of the day. Think of it as the Soho House of Cape Town. The venue is everything for every occasion – live jazz over Sunday lunch, romantic candle lit dinners in our dining rooms or cocktails under the trees in their garden.

  • Shortmarket Club (88 Shortmarket St)

A more upscale establishment with very refined food. A reservation is highly recommended even weeks in advance sometimes. Great for lunch and dinner.

  • The Pot Luck Club (373-375 Albert Rd)

Considered one of the coolest places in Cape Town and its success is based on innovative cuisine, served in a relaxed yet edgy environment in a part of Cape Town. Great for lunch or dinner. Reservations highly recommended.

  • Blacksheep (104 Kloof St)

A great casual restaurant with delicious food. Famous for seasonal ingredients and blackboard specials at modern Cape restaurant.

  • La Tete (17 Bree St)

We haven’t been here but it’s a highly recommended restaurant by our friends and on other guides we have researched due to the tie-to-toe philosophy.

Interesting Experiences

  • The Test Kitchen (375 Albert Rd)

Fine dining restaurant with innovative and contemporary cuisine. Overpriced in my opinion, but definitely an experience if you can, first of all, get a table, and, second of all, spend $300-500 for a dinner for two. Reservations required months in advance.

  • Waterkloof (Sir Lowry’s Pass Rd)

We didn’t get a chance to drive out here yet ,but it’s on our list. Gorgeously appointed in a glass promontory, the restaurant extends from the chic wine tasting lounge and gravitational cellar, offering fine French dining with amazing views.

IMG_7271.jpg

BEST WINERIES AND FARMS

  • Babylonstoren (Klapmuts Simondium Road, Simondium)

Mentioned before… But once again, this is definitely one of our favourite places in Cape Town and we make sure to visit every time we fly in. Every aspect of Babylonstoren – including the contemporary Farm Hotel & Spa, the Farm Shop and Restaurants – is led by the ever-changing tapestry and botanical diversity of the majestic garden.

  • Cavalli Wine & Stud Farm (Strand Rd)

Another highly recommended destinations that we haven’t ventured to but is on our list is one of the premier locations for visitors seeking a sophisticated South African winelands lifestyle experience.

  • Boschendal (Boschendal Estate Pniel Road Groot Drakenstein, Franschhoek)

Breathtakingly beautiful land consolidating twenty historical farms into a diverse property of 1800 hectares. Location, sheer size and history make exploring Boschendal compelling.

ADVENTURE IDEAS AND DAY TRIPS

  • Hike to Lion’s Head (Signal Hill)

  • Catch a cable car up iconic Table Mountain

  • Visit Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens (Rhodes Dr)

  • Visit the Penguins at the picturesque village of Simonstown (Kleintuin Rd)

Boulders Beach in the Table Mountain National Park is a must place to go. No visit to Cape Town is complete without a chance to meet this famous colony of African Penguins. Best weather with least rain is from October until March. The breeding season is from February until August, it peaks from March to May, when you will have the chance to see more penguins than at other times. Make sure to also check when the tide times are on this beach as when the tide is high you won’t be able to walk on the beach and come close to penguins. Check this website for tide conditions.

If you visit Penguins, you can have lunch or dinner at either Foodbarn Noordhoek (Village Ln) or Harbour House (Main Rd) in Kalk Bay.

  • Go on a helicopter tour of the Cape coast

We highly recommend explore the Cape Peninsula from the air. Choose one of the NAC Helicopter tours to see the coast. Not much to say – just epic, worth the splurge.

  • Visit Franschoek town, see wineries and stop by at Le coin Francais Restaurant (17 Huguenot Rd) or Foliage (11 Huguenot Rd) for lunch.

IMG_1361.jpg

BEST FARMER MARKETS

Now that we travel with Alexa, a great grocery store is an essential for us on any trip. But as we are in Cape Town, Farmer Markets are the best option to stop by and choose from natural and fresh producers. We highly recommend The Oranjezicht City Farm Market (Granger Bay Blvd) and The Old Biscuit Mill (375 Albert Rd).

THINGS TO DO WITH KIDS IN CAPE TOWN

IMG_8823.jpg

Outdoors

  • Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens (Rhodes Dr)

These are one of the great botanic gardens of the world I guess. Few gardens can match the sheer grandeur of the setting of Kirstenbosch, against the eastern slopes of Cape Town’s Table Mountain.

  • World of Birds Wildlife Sanctuary & Monkey Park (Hout Bay)

This is the largest bird park in Africa and one of the few large bird parks in the world. Over 3000 birds and small animals of 400 different species are presented in more than 100 spacious landscaped walk through aviaries, allowing your kids experiment the most intimate closeness with nature.

  • Giraffe House (c/o R304 & R101, Muldersvlei)

Another lovely spot for kids. Focusing on African wildlife, the Giraffe House aims to provide a place for children and adults to enjoy the outdoors, whilst experiencing and learning about animals and why they are special. An important member of their team is Gerry, hand reared giraffe.

  • Playground at Noordhoek Farm Village (Village Ln & Noordhoek Mani Rd)

Visiting the Noordhoek Farm Village is like seeing an old friend. It is easy, relaxed, comfortable and very welcoming. Kids will love the playground.

  • Buffelsfontein Game & Nature Reserve (R27, West Coast)

You can experience a piece of Africa on the West Coast. Although it is not a real safari – more like a big zoo –, this nature reserve is probably the closest place to see wildlife from Cape Town (about an hour drive). With different game drive packages available, guests are sure to find one to suit their specific needs. Feeding of carnivores are Mondays – Saturdays and forms part of the afternoon full guided game drives.

2e76010e-759a-426b-af05-c3787468c6b6.jpg

Indoors

  • Cape Town Science Centre (370B Main Rd)

With more than 250 interactive exhibits and mind-boggling puzzles, the Cape Town Science Centre is a small world of discovery under one roof.

  • Iziko Planetarium and Digital Dome (25 Queen Victoria St)

The Iziko Planetarium and Digital Dome is the most advanced digital planetarium on the African continent. They make virtual voyages of the universe possible, providing an unparalleled experience of animation and 360º cinema. You can also explore the inner workings of the human body or the intricacies of an atomic structure.

  • Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (V&A Waterfront, Silo District, S Arm Rd)

This museum tends to collect, research and exhibit twenty-first century art from Africa and its Diaspora. Very good venue to get to know the culture.

IMG_8750.jpg

And here are all the vlogs from our amazing trips to Cape Town, because there is no better way to understand how extremely beautiful and unique this place is than just to see it.

Love you!

xx,

Mimi

Miami Travel Guide

June 21, 2018 Mimi Ikonn

Hello my beautiful friends! As you know Alex and I were really surprised by how much we enjoyed Miami when last visited in 2015, so I was super excited to be visiting again for a longer period of time. I’m so glad we returned, as I found myself falling in love with Miami more and more with every day that passed!

The vibe in Miami is amazing with beautiful palm tree-lined beaches, incredible sunrises and sunsets, and glorious warm weather. It was a big change to the snow we left behind in Toronto!

Here is a guide for your trip that consists of places we've discovered on our two visits to Miami.   It will help you make the most of your time in Miami.

WHERE TO EAT

The food scene in Miami is really buzzing and thanks to Alex, he made sure that we visited all the best ‘foodie’ places in town! Make sure to book all the below restaurants well in advance as they are very popular.

Byblos is actually originally from our hometown Toronto. It was one of our favourites in Toronto so it was amazing to see it here. It serves great modern Middle Eastern food in a vibrant space.

We loved the original Le Sirenuse in one of our favourite destinations in the world - Positano, Italy (see my Positano travel guide here) - so we were very excited to try its Miami outpost! We enjoyed breakfast here which was delicious. It’s also a truly lovely setting in the beautiful Four Season Hotel.

Alex and I don’t watch TV, however we make an exception for one show: Chef’s Table on Netflix! The best episode focuses on Argentine chef Francis Mallman (see it here) so his Miami restaurant Los Fuegos in the Faena Hotel was a must visit for us. We loved this restaurant and all the amazing flavours. Be sure to not skip the desserts! ;)

We really enjoyed our experience at the new Miami Beach hotspot, Stubborn Seed. The chef, Jeremy Ford, who was actually the winner of the Top Chef TV show a couple of years ago, focuses on fresh ingredients and turning them into stunning works of culinary art. We had an amazing dinner here! The food was really high quality with very unique flavours.

The exciting South Florida outpost of chef Justin Smillie’s smash-hit New York City restaurant, Upland introduces Smillie’s California-inspired culinary philosophy to South Beach. The restaurant had a great vibe, with really delicious modern American cuisine. We can’t wait to try the New York site when we’re next in the Big Apple!

Latin influences can be found throughout Miami, and at Matador Room, Jean- Georges Vongerichten offers his modern, distinctive interpretation of Spanish, Caribbean and South American flavours. It’s set within the beautiful EDITION hotel and also offers great outdoor seating for breakfast, lunch or dinner, with beachfront views. We found the selection of food on offer to be fantastic, so we would highly recommend visiting if you’re in town.

And finally, if you’re venturing out of South Beach and into Wynwood, then I would highly recommend visiting Kyu. We loved this Asian-fusion restaurant and shared delicious small plates from its wood-fired grill.

WHERE TO STAY

We loved our stay at 1 Hotel South Beach on this latest visit. We were familiar with the hotel brand as we stayed at 1 Hotel Central Park in New York a few years ago and we’re big supporters of their concept. Inspired by nature, 1 Hotels blends the best of eco-conscious design and sustainable architecture, together with luxury and amazing service. The whole place smells incredible and I even bought their candle to bring a bit of the 1 Hotel back home to London!

Their healthy cafe PLNTHOUSE was great for healthy food, juices and smoothies.

The main pool is on an elevated plaza which puts the ocean at mesmerising eye level and there’s even a small rooftop pool - great for sunset views! It has its own beach area which is very kid-friendly, with even an area to build sandcastles!

Another great place to stay on Miami Beach is Soho Beach House, where our new assistant Emma stayed on a recent visit. It’s the Miami outpost of the London creative members’ club Soho House. Housed in a restored Art Deco building, it gives you the feeling of ‘old Miami’ but with all the amenities of a contemporary hotel. Many areas are open only to club members and hotel guests, which gives a feeling of exclusivity. During the day, hang out at the private beach club and by night, dine at the onsite restaurant Cecconi’s, which serves delicious modern Venetian style food and in a beautifully lit courtyard.

THINGS TO DO

  • Go to the beach ... you are in Miami :)
  • Go visit and hangout at the Wynwood Walls. The art is really cool and you can potentially grab lunch at Kyu as it’s in the area.
  • Grab a Citibike - cycling is a great way to see South Beach. If you don’t mind bridges, cycle along the Venetian Islands to check out the amazing villas!
  • Go for an early morning run along the Boardwalk like the locals!
  • Visit the Everglades. This has been on our list but we still haven’t done it! It consists of 1.5 million acres of watery grasslands, and is home to a myriad of birds, mammals, and their most famous resident, alligators! Emma highly recommends biking through Shark Valley and if you ride quietly, you may even see alligators along the way - just be sure to keep your distance! Wherever you visit in the Everglades, make sure to bring lots of insect repellent!

GROCERIES

Now that we have Alexa, a great grocery store is an essential for us on any trip!

Whole Foods on South Beach was great - and be sure to stock up on Hu Chocolate bars! :)

Mykonos Travel Guide

September 14, 2015 Mimi Ikonn

The island of winds is the nickname of Mykonos. As soon as we stepped off the plane the wind started tossing and turning my hair. It reminded me of my childhood in Baku, another city of winds. I like that it’s windy because it diffuses the heat. Apparently it also prevents the clouds from forming, hence the 300 plus days of sunshine a year in this beautiful island.

We came to Mykonos with zero expectations. Some said it’s a party island and others said that it’s peaceful and relaxing. This is why it's important to travel- so that we can all have our own experience and form our own opinion about a destination. The fact is - Mykonos is both a party island and a peaceful haven. It all depends on what you are there for and this way you can choose to spend your time accordingly. Alex and I spent our days driving around the island discovering various beaches soaking up the sun, oh and there are so many spectacular ones. Surprisingly, our friends from London also happened to be in Mykonos at the same time. It was a great chance to spend some time with them and discover really cool beach restaurants. Make sure to watch our Vlog on Mykonos for a real experience of the beautiful island and read below for our comprehensive Mykonos travel guide.

WHERE TO STAY

I highly suggest staying at Old Town Mykonos, it’s the most convenient location as you can walk everywhere.  We were in Mykonos for only three nights and split our days between two hotels. We like to sample places in order for us to experience more and be able to make better recommendations. The first night we stayed right in town and the last two days in Agios Stefanos (10 minute drive from old town).

  • The first hotel that we stayed at was Boheme. We absolutely fell in love with it and the location was just perfect. It’s only a five minute walk to the old town. The hotel has incredible views of the sea and the perfect place to watch the sunset. Something that you can still enjoy even if you are not staying at this hotel. You can just come for a drink or dinner and watch the truly magical sunset.
  • Roccabella was the second hotel where we stayed. It was okay. I would choose Boheme over it in a heartbeat. Better location, experience, amenities and customer service. Final verdict: It wasn’t good value for the money paid.

WHAT TO SEE

Start with the old town. Even though it’s small, there is lots to discover. The narrow alleys feel like a never ending maze. A beautiful maze where you want to get lost in between the white and blue painted homes. With kids playing, cats photogenically napping on the stairs, little shops, and beautiful pink carmelia that has been mindfully planted all around the town to add romance.

Below are the three must see spots in Mykonos Old Town. I suggest visiting all three around sunset. This will add magical light for those perfect Instagram photos, haha! :)

Mykonos Windmills

Mykonos Windmills

  • Windmills: Built in 16th Century and still look just as beautiful. Make sure to snap a few photos.
  • Little Venice: You can see it right from the windmills. I suggest walking towards it through one of the narrower paths situated right at the edge of the town facing the sea. It’s a fascinating and thrilling experience, especially on a windy, stormy day. Just watch the vlog to see just how exciting it was!
  • Old Port: If you keep walking past Little Venice you will hit the old port. It’s a very romantic spot at sunset. Don’t miss the super old white church right behind the port (great spot for photos).
The Little Venice of Mykonos

Watch a sunset with the stars: Bill and Coo hotel was our favorite spot to watch the sunset. It’s a beautiful hotel situated on top of a hill overlooking the Aegean sea. We made a reservation to have dinner there and arrived a bit earlier to watch the sunset by the pool. It was absolutely stunning. The coolest part is the infinity pool that has magical stars in it. I suggest skipping the dinner (we weren’t crazy about it) and just going there for drinks. They don’t even have to be alcoholic as I personally had a berry smoothie.

THE BEACHES

  • Super Paradise Beach- the name says it all. It truly looks like paradise. The water is crystal clear and turquoise. I mean look at the photo! It’s like an ad for Mykonos, haha!
Super Paradise beach

Super Paradise beach

  • Ornos Beach - another one of our favorite beaches. We walked all the way to the right of the beach, where the public part of the beach is (we prefer grounding on the sand and not using the sunbeds).
Ornos Beach

Ornos Beach

  • Agios Sostis- a wild beach. It’s calm, peaceful and relaxing. It’s a perfect spot if you want to just have a peace of mind, away from all the beach parties. We went there on the first day when we arrived to Mykonos, as we had lunch at Kiki’s. * details below*
The wild Agios Sostis beach

The wild Agios Sostis beach

  • Ftelia- is a cute little beach right by Cafe Alemagou in the Northern part of the island. They play lovely music and the whole vibe is very bohemian chic.
  • Kapari beach is a great spot to watch the sunset. Alex and I spent a bit of time there watching the sun slowly go down as we sat on a blanket hugging and dreaming.
  • Psarou Beach is a very popular beach as it’s next to famous Namos restaurant. ( we didn’t go to the restaurant, but we heard it’s good) The water was incredibly clear and warm with white sandy beach. Walk to the left of the beach and hike up the stair for an unforgettable view  - picture attached.

WHERE TO EAT

  • Kiki’s was highly recommended to us by a few locals as a lunch spot. They do not take reservations, so when you arrive there you have to wait. And the line up is pretty much guaranteed, unless you manage to arrive first. We waited two hours to get in. What’s the hype? They do not use any electricity or gas to prepare the food they make. Everything is baked in their traditional oven fueled by charcoal. The food was great, however I don’t think it was worth the 2 hour wait. I suggest going early to beat the lineup. The portions are big, so do not over order, like we did, haha!  Their version of greek salad was very delicious, as well as grilled eggplant.

  • Scorpio was recommended to us by our friends who visit Mykonos frequently. It’s got beautiful panoramic views of the sea and a lovely beach near by. The food was great, so we ended up going there twice for lunch and dinner. They have great parties there on Sundays and Tuesdays. We happened to go thereon Tuesday evening and enjoyed the music and dancing in addition to our delicious food. We loved their quinoa salad, tomato salad and a green been salad. Mmm…..

  • Kalita is hidden in a narrow alley of old town. It’s a great place to have dinner at if you are in old town. The service was very warm and attentive and the food was good. I enjoyed my wild mushroom risotto.

  • Liasti - is a great spot to have lunch. It’s a beautiful place with fresh local food. They even grow most of their vegetables in their own garden in the backyard of the restaurant. We absolutely loved the baked potato, grilled eggplant, tzaziki  sauce and grilled vegetables.

  • Cafe Alemagou has a cool bohemian chic vibe. It’s modern, cool and cozy with beautiful design and decorations , as well as very friendly staff. I just loved the vibe of this place and could easily spend the whole day there. The food was fresh with a modern twist. We loved their quinoa salad, green juice and the fresh fruit flatter. They even have two dogs who run around the restaurant entertaining the guests ( I guess it’s the dogs of the owners). I played with both of them and they were so sweet and friendly. Occasionally running to the sea for a quick swim and then back to the restaurant. Those dogs have the life! Haha I loved their green juice and the fresh fruit platter.

TIPS:

  • Rent a Car- although the island is quite small, there is lots to discover there, hence you will definitely need a car. The good news is that everything is about 10-20 minutes away. There is public transit, however I’m not sure how reliable it is.
  • Frozen seafood is quite common on the island. I’m still not sure why. We asked one waiter and he said that it’s due to the fact that they don’t have a fish market. If you see anything on the menu with a star beside it, it means that the item was previously frozen.
  • Iced coffee - Although I hardly ever drink coffee, I had to try Caffe Freddo’s when we were in Mykonos. It’s their specialty drink and is very refreshing on a hot day.
