Okay, I have to admit I never thought I'd love Portugal as much as I did. It was breathtaking, peaceful, I'd even go as far as to say - unforgettable! It took us a while to visit Portugal, mainly because it's not well advertised. Sadly, for this very humble and beautiful country. From my impression, there is still so much to see in this small, yet diverse place. This time we visited the Algarve region, mainly around Lagos beach. Alex and I are definitely planning to make our way back there and discover more.
Beaches we visited in this Vlog:
- Praia De Marinha - This beach is in the top 100 beautiful beaches of the world. In my humble travel experience it makes it to #1. I mainly love it because it's so wild. It makes you feel like you've gone back in time. There are massive cliffs, beautiful golden sand and water. No man made beach beds, umbrellas or stuff that most commercial beaches are invaded with nowadays. It's just nature and you. Also, there were no hustlers trying to sell you stuff, which again is a massive bonus. I must have taken a thousand pictures there, haha! After splashing in the water and playing with the waves, Alex and I took an amazing nap in the sun.
- Praia do Camilo - this was another breathtaking beach we discovered with Alex. We spent a whole morning marvelling at the beauty of this beach. And in my opinion, morning are the best there, as later in the afternoon as it gets warmer the beach gets quite crowded, as it's quite small. A must visit!
- Benagil Caves - one word that can describe this cave is - Unreal. When the tide is low you can walk or swim to it and take photos inside, right on the beach. Since the tide was high, we decided to do a cave boat tour, and it was pretty exhilarating and cool experience.
O Pescador Benagil was our favorite restaurant. We ended up going there twice. Very fresh and healthy food and very cute decor.
Eating out is a bit tricky for a non meat eater. I had to make sure that there is no bacon or meat added to dishes that sounded Vegetarian, as once I ordered this innocent rice dish that had bacon in it, even though the menu didn't list it.
Have you ever been to Portugal? I'd love to hear about your experience.
Much Love,
xx
