Big Change | Scotland Vlog

July 20, 2015 Mimi Ikonn

Only last week, which now feels like a lifetime ago, Alex and I did the craziest, most challenging hike of our lives. We hiked for over 8 hours every day (25+ miles)  through the West Highland Way, conquering the gruelling uphills and downhills of Scotland, one step at a time. On the third and last day of the hike, we climbed the highest mountain in the UK, Ben Nevis (1,344 meters). My body is still sore, haha! I'm not kidding! It was all extremely challenging, yet exciting and fulfilling at the same time. We signed up for this hike in order to raise awareness and money for Big Change - an incredible organization that supports and nourishes children and young adults from inner city schools, by providing them with programs, workshops and mentorships to bring out the best of them.

Watch the Vlog to experience our journey with us! Oh, and you can still support us by clicking here. Thank you all SO much for being so encouraging and supporting. You guys are amazing!

Much Love,
xx

Mallorca Travel Guide

July 14, 2015 Mimi Ikonn

After our first trip to Mallorca last year, we knew that we would need to go back there to explore more of this incredibly beautiful and diverse island. Even though Mallorca is a relatively small island, there is so much to do and see. This time around we took our parents with us. It’s been their dream to go to Mallorca and it was an amazing feeling to make their dream come true. Scroll down for my recommendations and outfit details!

In this look I am wearing an old hat from Paris (similar here), H&M shirt (similar here and here), AG Jeans shorts (similar here), and Office shoes. I also added my Michael Kors watch and RayBan sunnies.

Things to do, see and eat

  • Base yourself in Palma - We arrived in Palma and rented a lovely Air BnB.  (Have you tried AirBnB? Check it out here and get a discount, this is what we use to rent apartments all over the world when we travel. ) Palma is bursting with life and action. It’s got everything you need: great restaurant, shops and cute narrow alleys ( which are perfect for photos, haha)

  • Rent a car - We believe the best way to see Palma is by car. That way you are free to roam from one end of the island to another, beach hopping and discovering quaint little villages.

Beaches

  • Portals Vells is a small village with 2 coves and 3 beautiful beaches. (I gotta warn you - one of them is nudist, hehe) The water is crystal clear and usually calm. We prefer the middle beach as it’s got the best view and a nearby cafe, where you can use washroom facilities, as well as buy water, snacks, etc.
  • Port Nous is our go to beach when in Mallorca. It’s really close to Palma (around 10-15 min drive). It’s small and intimate with super clear water and golden sand. The view across to the marina and the small island in front of the beach is very beautiful. What we really like about this beach is that it’s rarely too crowded.
  • S’amarador is a glorious white sand beach surrounded by Mondrago National Park. It’s wild and beautiful. A great spot for a hike and then swim in the lovely turquoise water. Definitely worth a visit!
  • Es Trenc Beach is perfect if you like a wide and long beach, ideal for a long and scenic walk. The sand is white and the water is usually very clear and beautiful. Since this beach is massive, it never really gets crowded.
  • Cala Formentor Beach was rated as the favorite beach of the trip by Alex and I, as well as our parents. I truly believe it’s one of the most magical spots in Mallorca. It has a stunning backdrop of pine forest and breathtaking views of the mountains. It’s definitely a must visit if you are in Mallorca.

I am wearing ASOS maxi dress and Enzo Angialini wedges (this is an older pair - similar ones here).

By the S’amarador beach - In this look I am wearing a Zara shirt, Zara shorts, and Zara flats.

Restaurants

  • Misa Restaurant in Palma is one of those magical places that looks like it’s straight out of a movie scene. The food is fresh, the service is very friendly and the atmosphere - unforgettable.
  • Hotel Fontsanta is great place to have lunch or dinner. It’s truly an oasis of calm. We went there for lunch and there was hardly anyone there. We felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. I walked around this spectacular hotel, taking photos and filming all the beautiful little corners, flowers and architecture.
  • Flor De Sal (d’Estrenc) was actually recommended to me by one of my Instagram friends who lives in Mallorca. It’s a cool little shop/cafe where you can buy freshly harvested world famous Mallorcan salt - Flor De Sal, as well as local almond ice cream and sorbets. Upon arrival you will see an enormous salt mountain and the field where the salt is harvested.
  • Son Brull is a quiet, peaceful and luxurious hotel & spa in Polenca (Northern part of Mallorca). We just went there for dinner and were blown away by the magical setting of this beautiful place. It’s truly one of the most romantic places I have ever been to. It’s an absolute oasis! The food and service were great. They even had a delicious gluten free bread. (You just have to ask for it!)

Views

  • Mirador Es Colomer is a spectacular place, located on the northernmost point of Majorca. It’s got incredible views of the cliffs and never ending sea. It’s a perfect spot for scenic pictures, or just an ideal place to contemplate life.
  • Formentor Lighthouse was the highlight of our trip. I recommend going there at sunset, when the magic light sets the mood, as if you are in heaven. Epic photos are guaranteed!

Crazy Adventures in Sardinia

June 26, 2015 Mimi Ikonn

Sardinia is truly a magical island. This was our first time visiting it and we were all blown away by the wild nature and the abundance of breathtaking beaches, oh and did I mention the color of the water? It's so clear and turquoise. The pictures and videos just don't do it justice.

We spent only a few short days in Sardinia, which I feel like wasn't enough to see even 25% of the island. If you ever go there, rent a car and drive around the whole island. There is just so much to see and do there. You need at least 5 days.

Enjoy our crazy Vlog adventures. Sardinia, we will be back!
xx
